Poison Ivy, whose real name is Pamela Isley, is a prominent villain in the Batman mythos. Her first appearance was in Batman #181 (June 1966).

Originally a promising botany student, Pamela was seduced and experimented upon by Dr. Jason Woodrue, also known as the Floronic Man. These experiments injected her with plant toxins, granting her a toxic touch, immunity to all poisons, and control over plant life.

Driven mad by the experience, she adopted the persona of Poison Ivy, using her powers for eco-terrorism and often clashing with Batman. Her goals typically involve protecting plant life, sometimes at the expense of humanity. While primarily a villain, Poison Ivy's motivations are rooted in a deep love for the natural world, often portrayed as a misguided protector.
